About Mooiplaas
The history of the farm dates to 1806 with the Manor House, which is an impressive example of Cape Dutch architecture. It has even become a national monument.
Owners and brothers, Tielman and Louis Roos, produce a range of environmentally-friendly wines rooted in tradition and artisan techniques that make the most of the unique terroir.
The tasting room is the oldest building on the farm and is the original horse stable. Langtafel range is renowned for its famous Langtafel Luncheons and Dinners, where the Roos family share their passion for food and fine wines with friends and family.
“To produce premium wines you have to follow the ‘classic’ approach. Use the best grapes from the best vineyards with minimal interference during the winemaking process. That will give you wines that are distinctive and expressive of place and vintage.” – Louis Roos

THE WINEMAKER
Louis Roos
is known for being a purist. He insists upon using wild yeast, light filtration, natural fermentation and allowing the wine to mature in small oak barrels.
