About Babylons’s Peak
Four generations, great-grandfather and grandfather following the route of winemaking, and Stephan and his father currently farming – with the added winemaking as well.
The name Babylon’s Peak is derived from the very high granite peak on the farm, which is known to local people as ‘Babylonstoren’ (in English, ‘The Tower of Babylon’). Some of the highest vineyards in the Swartland region are found here at about 700 metres above sea level.
All the grapes are carefully selected and treated before the wine is made the traditional way in open fermenters. Being a small boutique cellar, we have the opportunity to select and bottle only the best quality wines. This is the reason that our range may differ from year to year.

THE WINEMAKER
