Wellington Winelands

The picturesque town of Wellington is 60km from Cape Town. This well-known wine-producing region in the Western Cape consists of rolling hills covered in vineyards. These vineyards provide a vast range of suitable sites for wine growers where delicious Pinotage and Chenin Blanc grapes thrive.

The mountains have a profound effect on the wine styles made in Wellington. Although the days are usually very warm, the colder air from the mountains usually settles in the valley in the evening, helping to cool off the grapes after a hot day. This diurnal temperature lengthens the grape ripening process, which results in more concentrated grape flavours.

Interesting facts: The quality of the water in the nearby Limietberg Mountains lends itself to the production of whisky, including some premium brands.
